Silla, which conquered the lower reaches of the Han River, established the ancestral tablet in the area of Hanam and appointed Kim Moo Ryeok, a grandfather of Kim Yoo Shin, as the first monarch (14th year, Silla King Jinheung). The location of ancestral tablet is estimated to be in Isung Mountain Fortress in Chungung-dong or structure site in Gyosan-dong.
The jurisdiction was handed over to Mt. Bukhan as the ancestral tablet was abolished and Mt. Bukhan area was newly developed with Seoul as the center. (18th year, Silla King Jinheung)
Hanam’s jurisdiction has changed as Mt. Bukhan area was abolished while Namcheon area was founded in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do. (29th year, Silla King Jinheung)
Abolishment of Namcheon area and Mt.Bukhan area is established again (24th year, Silla King Jinpyeong) > Namcheon area in 662 (4th year, King Moonmu) > Hansan area in 664 (4th year, King Moonmu)

The nation was established into 8 provinces and reorganized under Gyeonggi-do’s jurisdiction since Chosun has been established. The office, Eupchi, was located in Gogol (Chungung-dong) and was divided into 4 towns by the direction, the East, West, South, and Notrth.
Gwangju-mok was promoted to Gwangju-bu and Buyun was established (the 10th year of King Seonjo, Joseon)
Buyun system of Gwangju was promoted to Yusugeyomeosa system (the 1st year of King Injo, Joseon)
When the Manchu war of 1636 broke out, King Injo confronted the Chung Army, but eventually surrendered, as there was no rescue team or supplies left.
Gwangju became Yoosubu, and Yoosubu system was completely settled in 1795 under King Jeong-jo.

According to Yeoji Book, Gwangju was divided into 22 towns, where there were many villages in Eastern and Southern myeons. (Eastern myeon – Sachang-ri, San-gok-ri, Duckpung-ri, Hwangsan-ri, Doonji-ri, Paldang-ri / Southern myeon – Hang-dong, Chunjang-ri, Choduck-ri, Gamcheon-ri, Dong-eum-am-ri)
Part of Seobu-myeon and Jungbu-myeon and Paldang-ri of Yangju County were combined to Dongbu-myeon (the 2nd year of King Heonjong, Joseon)
Yoosobu changed to Gwangju-gun due to extensive reorganization of local administration districts.
Elevate Gwangju-gun to Gwangju-bu.
Return Gwangju district to Gwangju-gun.
Paldang-ri was combined to Yangju County
11-Ris in Eastern and Southern myeon of Gwangju are subdivided to 28 Dong-ris. (No changes were made until the liberation)
